Profile

Kristin Clarkson DNP, is a pediatric nurse practitioner and an Assistant Professor of Nursing in the Health Promotion & Development department at the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Seton Hall University, master’s in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania with a focus on caring for children with acute and chronic complexity, and doctor of nursing practice from the University of Pittsburgh. She completed a post-graduate training program for nurse practitioners in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine and currently practices as a nurse practitioner in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Clarkson provides rehabilitation evaluation for children in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Her clinical interests include: rehabilitation acute care consultation, cerebral palsy, cardiac rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, spasticity management, durable medical equipment, and developmental disabilities. Kristin Clarkson is faculty within LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities and Related Disorders) which is a dynamic interdisciplinary leadership training program in developmental disabilities. She is also a certified Nurse Life Care Planner and develops medical life-care plans for children with catastrophic injuries and determine future costs.
