Distance Education
Nurse Practitioners often serve as advanced practice providers in hospitals, emergency rooms, clinics, outpatient centers, nursing homes, and home health care agencies in regions that are traditionally underserved. Now, Pitt Nursing is offering its three BSN to DNP Nurse Practitioner concentrations in a distance education format.
Concentrations offered:
- Adult-Gerontology Acute Care
- Adult-Gerontology Primary Care
- Family (Individual Across the Lifespan)
You’ll attend class virtually from the comfort of your home, interacting with your professor and classmates who are on the Pittsburgh campus. To facilitate your lab and clinical courses, the School of Nursing has developed partnerships with organizations such as the Center for Rural Health Practice at the University of Pittsburgh Bradford, Bradford Regional Medical Center, and UPMC Cole (formerly Cole Memorial Health System). So, you can receive the same high-quality classroom and clinical education without having to travel to Pittsburgh.
Coursework covers the role of nurse practitioners; diagnosis, management, and care of the specific patient population; utilization of evidence-based practice; management of complex health issues; finance, public policy, and leadership; and exploration and application of the various family health theories with respect to NP practice.
The Center for Rural Health Practice is conveniently located in historic downtown Bradford. Founded in 1887, Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) is a 107-bed acute-care community hospital with a full-service home health division, a 95-bed skilled nursing facility, and a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient behavioral health program, including one of the few dual diagnosis units in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York. Located in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, UPMC Cole has a long history of providing comprehensive community-based health care.
