Celebrating Nurses in May

Celebrating Nurses in May!

Nurses wield an unmatched influence in healthcare, profoundly shaping the health and welfare of our society. The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, committed to nurturing tomorrow’s nursing trailblazers, takes pride in uniting with peers nationwide to honor the nursing field’s remarkable advancements and invaluable contributions.

Nurses Week (May 6-12)

Each year, National Nurses Week recognizes nurses for the highly specialized knowledge, critical thinking skills, and compassion they bring to patients and families every day. During the week, Wednesday is designated as National School Nurse Day, and May 8 is National Student Nurses Day. The week culminates on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. The weeklong celebration has expanded to the entire month of May and is an opportunity to celebrate and show gratitude for the tremendous care nurses provide to patients and families.

This year’s theme, established by the American Nurses Association (ANA), is Nurses Make the Difference. It honors the incredible nurses who embody the spirit of compassion and care in every healthcare setting. Nurses make a difference as trusted advocates who ensure individuals, families, and communities receive quality patient care and services. They also influence and shape health policy decisions that ensure all Americans have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare coverage.

Thank you!

As we celebrate National Nurses Week, let us take this opportunity to honor and recognize the incredible achievements and contributions of nurses in all their diverse roles. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or just beginning your journey in nursing, know that your efforts do not go unnoticed, and you are truly making a difference in the lives of others.

Thank you for all that you do today and every day!
