Profile
I am a nursing health services researcher and public policy expert. Although my research focuses on a wide variety of policy issues, I have a particular research emphasis on primary care payment and innovation as well as educational, organization, and regulatory issues related to nurse practitioner practice. I have received funding to study these and related topics from a variety of federal, state, and foundation funders and have published over three dozen refereed articles. I have methodological expertise in econometrics and mixed-method research but have also regularly employed latent variable modeling, qualitative content analysis, and participatory organizational research.
Clinical Emphasis
I have worked in a variety of clinical settings include pediatric critical care and psychiatry and adult medical-surgical. In addition to clinical experience also have significant policy and consulting experienced working for the RAND Corporation and the Advisory Board Company.
Teaching
I teach health policy to graduate-level nursing students (NUR 3012).
