Educating the Next Generation of Nurses
Since 1939, the School of Nursing has prepared students for increasingly demanding practice and academic environments through rigorous educational programs with varied and intensive experiences in applied practice.
Scholarship support opens doors for educational opportunities to our students and provides the incentive to recruit and retain the best and brightest students. For the 2017- 18 academic year, over 250 undergraduate and graduate students received scholarship assistance from School of Nursing donor-funded scholarships. More than three quarters of a million dollars was awarded to students. Thanks to our generous donors and friends of the School of Nursing. Our scholars hailed from 13 states and internationally with 60% being from Pennsylvania.
How Donations Help
In addition to providing scholarship support to our students, gifts from alumni and friends have provided:
- Building Updates: Alumni generosity is responsible for renovations to the First Floor Lobby, a study area for students and a year-round gathering place for faculty and visitors; the School’s anatomy and physiology lab, as well as the School’s skills lab, renovated by alumni dollars, each offering state-of-the-art student experiences and “hands-on” learning.
- Educational Technology: Alumni support has made the School a leader in human simulation experiences to facilitate full context learning (i.e. SimBaby)
- Educational Experiences: Alumni donations have funded student registration costs to conferences where innovative information is disseminated.
