Nicole Dean

Dr. Nicole Dean currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Health Promotion and Development Department at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2014 and graduated with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree in 2020, both from the University of Pittsburgh. Her graduate studies were in the Family Nurse Practitioner program with a minor in Nursing Education. During that time, she was fortunate to begin her experience in education for various courses as a Teaching Assistant. Her current teaching roles include undergraduate pediatric clinical instruction and clinical faculty for Transitions into Professional Practice. Dr. Dean’s clinical emphasis as a Family Nurse Practitioner has been primarily with medically complex pediatric patients and their families, and her nursing career prior to that was spent in Neonatal Intensive Care. Her service includes membership to multiple professional organizations, hospital based committees, and a current mentorship role through Sigma Theta Tau, Eta Chapter. Dr. Dean’s scholarly emphasis is in the area of developmentally at-risk infants and young children, with particular interest in quality of life and family-based care. She is honored and excited to be back at the University of Pittsburgh in this faculty role.
